Unashamed of His Incarnation

Unashamed of His Incarnation

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today, I want to talk to you about the importance of being unashamed of Jesus’ incarnation. As we know, the incarnation is the foundation of our faith, and it is essential to our understanding of who God is and what he has done for us.

In the Gospel of John, we read, « The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth » (John 1:14, NIV). This is a powerful statement that tells us that Jesus, the Son of God, became flesh and dwelt among us. He didn’t just appear to be human, he was fully human, with all the limitations and weaknesses that come with being human.

But why is this so important? Why does the fact that Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us matter so much? The answer lies in what Jesus accomplished through his incarnation. By becoming one of us, Jesus was able to fully identify with our struggles, our pain, and our sin. He was able to experience the full range of human emotions, from joy and happiness to sorrow and grief.

In addition, Jesus’ incarnation made it possible for him to die for our sins and reconcile us to God. As the author of Hebrews writes, « Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil » (Hebrews 2:14, NIV). Jesus’ death on the cross made it possible for us to be forgiven and reconciled to God, and his resurrection ensured that we have the hope of eternal life.

So, what does it mean to be unashamed of Jesus’ incarnation? It means that we fully embrace the reality of what Jesus has done for us, and we are not ashamed to share this truth with others. It means that we are willing to identify with Jesus and follow him, even when it is difficult or unpopular. It means that we recognize that the message of the cross may be foolishness to some, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18).

In conclusion, let us be unashamed of Jesus’ incarnation, recognizing that it is the foundation of our faith and the reason we have hope in this life and the next. Let us fully embrace the reality of what Jesus has done for us, and let us boldly proclaim this truth to the world around us. As the Apostle Paul writes, « For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes » (Romans 1:16, NIV). May we all be unashamed of the gospel, and may we live our lives in a way that reflects the love and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
